Admission Requirements

Tennessee and Non-Tennessee Residents: 2.50 cumulative weighted GPA and 19 ACT/900 SAT (Verbal and Math Scores only)

​

Guaranteed Admission:  3.20 cumulative weighted GPA 

​

******ACT or SAT Test Scores are required for all first time freshmen under 21******

​

Distribution of College Preparatory courses such as:  1 Unit of US History

Admission Requirements

Academics

The university is currently accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award 38 baccalaureate degrees, 24 master's degrees, and doctoral degrees in seven areas (Biological Sciences, Computer Information Systems Engineering, Psychology, Public Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration and Supervision, and Physical Therapy), as well as the two-year Associate of Science degree in nursing, and dental hygiene.

Tennessee State is classified as a "Doctoral University with Moderate Research Activity."

 

The University Honors College (UHC) is an exclusive academic program founded in 1964 that caters to select academically talented and highly motivated undergraduate students.

 

The College of Business is accredited by AACSB, the Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International or AACSB International; the first in Nashville to earn dual accreditation of both the undergraduate and graduate programs in 1994. The Psychology program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and the Teacher Education program by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

 

The College of Engineering has developed corporate partnerships with NASA, Raytheon, and General Motors and is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT).

The College of Health Sciences (formerly the School of Allied Health) includes such programs as the Masters in Physical Therapy and the Bachelor of Health Sciences. The Master of Public Health program was accredited in 2015 by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

How to organize a Send-off

HOW TO ORGANIZE A SEND-OFF

(step by step)

  • Contact the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at 1-888-463-6878 toll-free or admissions@tnstate.edu about hosting a send-off.

  • Contact Dr. Greogry Clark, Director of High School Relations & NCAA Certification at (615) 963-5103 or gclark@tnstate.edu to request TSU recruitment materials.

  • Set a date for a planning meeting and meet with chapter members to discuss:

-Budget/Cost & who will pay

-Donations and Sponsors

-Volunteers

-Which members will be responsible for each item:

a. Location/Venue

b. Date and time

c. Type/Format of event/Itinerary

d. Number of students/guests

e. Food/Drinks

f. Giveaways/Awards/Recognition

g. Invitation Coordination

h. Decorations and Miscellaneous

  • Send details about event via email to all stakeholders via Eventbrite 

  • Purchase materials for Send-Off event. 

  • Take RSVPs and make Check-in roster from Eventbrite.

  • Make copies of hand-outs you wish to share.

  • Prepare for the event and set up on the day of the event.

  • Take pictures at the event.

  • Send follow-up information to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions (ex. Short reflection of how you think the event went, Number of new students, parents, current students and alumni attended, Pictures, and Keep (local) contact information.)

  • Smile! And get ready for questions and a fun time!
