The Tennessee State University (TSU) Community College Graduate Scholarship program is available to undergraduate students who transfer to TSU from one of the thirteen (13) Tennessee Board of Regents community colleges.  The criteria stated below outlines the minimum requirements for this award. For full academic year award consideration, students must apply by April 1st. Consideration for awards is based on fund availability.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation within the previous 12-month period from a TBR community college with an AA or AS degree.

  • 3.00 minimum Community College grade point average.

  • Enrolled in a minimum of 15 credit hours each semester the scholarship is awarded.

  • For a one-year renewal, recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and be continuously enrolled full-time at TSU.

 

Award Benefit:

Up to $4,000 per year ($2,000 per semester), excluding summer and mini-sessions, for four consecutive semesters or two consecutive academic years. This scholarship will cover costs of tuition, mandatory fees and room/board not met by Pell, other federal grants, supplemental funds added to HOPE, TSAA programs or other scholarships.

 

Application Information:

  • Awards are competitive and the number of awards is based on available funds.

  • Completion of all application information is required for consideration.

  • The scholarship committee will accept a preliminary transcript in order to determine eligibility. However, the official transcript verifying eligibility and graduation must be received by the University before funds will be disbursed.

  • Students must apply for scholarship consideration prior to attending the University and prior to the application deadline .

  • Students must be fully admitted to the University by the application deadline.

Northeast State Community College

Northeast State Community College is a public comprehensive community college with technical education and college transfer programs. The school strives to tailor its programs and services to meet the special needs of a diverse student body numbering more than 5,100. Northeast State offers associate degrees in more than 50 programs of study, which can be transferred to a number of local and regional four-year colleges and universities. The school also offers associate of applied science degrees in more than 30 programs of study, such as business management, nursing, computer science, criminal justice, and office administration technology that prepare students for immediate entry into the workplace. In addition, Northeast State offers academic and technical certificates in over a dozen areas of study. Northeast State also offers a large program in continuing education and professional development courses. These programs help students update and hone work skills and aid companies with workforce development.

 

Pellissippi State Community College

Pellissippi State Community College was founded in 1974 as State Technical Institute at Knoxville. Enrollment has grown from 45 students that first year to more than 8,600 credit students today. With four comprehensive campuses, the college serves Knox and Blount counties, which are located in East Tennessee. However, the college’s students come from around the world. In the fall 2007 semester, for example, 128 students from 51 different countries were enrolled at the college. Pellissippi State offers associate’s degrees in 13 career/technical programs and numerous university parallel (transfer) programs, as well as a variety of institutional certificates and continuing education opportunities. The college also provides dual enrollment programs in partnership with area high schools, adult education classes for non-traditional students and an extensive number of online courses to accommodate busy schedules.

Roane State Community College

Roane State Community College is a two-year college providing transfer curricula, career-preparation programs, and non-credit education. Founded in 1971, Roane State serves a diverse eight-county service area that includes Roane, Anderson, Loudon, Campbell, Scott, Cumberland, Morgan, and Fentress counties. The college provides health sciences education in Knox and Blount counties. In addition to its main campus in Harriman, Roane State also has campuses in Crossville, Huntsville, Jamestown, Knoxville, LaFollette, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge and Wartburg. With its multiple campuses and wide range of distance-learning offerings, Roane State brings the benefits of higher education within reach of all who live and work in these communities.

Walters State Community College

Established in 1970, Walters State Community College is a comprehensive higher education institution serving around 5,900 credit students and over 4,000 students enrolled in job-training courses. In addition to its Morristown campus, the college offers classes at its Sevier County Campus and centers for higher education in Greeneville and New Tazewell as well as various off-campus facilities. Walters State also has a comprehensive public safety training facility and provides public service and agribusiness activities through the WSCC Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center. The college serves a primary ten-county service area consisting of Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Sevier and Union counties. The college also has an expanded service area including other East Tennessee counties for public safety and health programs. Walters State offers associate of arts, associate of science and associate of science in teaching university parallel degree programs for students planning to transfer to senior institutions in pursuit of baccalaureate degrees.
